Your WORST Performance Mod?????
#1
I'd like to start a thread on this. I know we all have purchased performance mods for our cars thinking that the claims by the vendor were true or at least close to being true. There are 100s of them out there in the world of automobiles. I'd like to see a list of the very WORST ones you got screwed by. I'll share a couple of mine if they don't show up in a couple of days.

I agree...APEXi has got to be the worst company right now for Rx7 owners...it takes MONTHS to get stuff you ordered from them! I was waiting for months for the N1 Dual catback to become available, but when it finally did, it still takes about 5 months or more to get it. I went w/ a custom setup using Bonez race pipe and I am still currently working on the catback...oh well.

It would have to be requesting the cloth seat covers when I ordered my Corbeau Sport Seats, and the "custom fit" brackets that they sent. Four years later and the cloth is very worn, it hasn't held up well at all. I expected the driver's seat to wear out first, because I usually drive alone and sit in a lot of traffic, but my passenger seat also looks like crap.
As for the "custom fit" mounting brackets, yes, the bolt holes lined up perfectly with the factory floor pan, but they raised the seats so high I was hitting my head on the headliner. And guys, I'm only 5'5" !!! Had to cut the brackets and weld in spacers to drop the seats lower.
Not to totally bash Corbeau, I actually like the seats themselves; 4 years and 80k miles later they are still very supportive and comfortable. My girlfriend thinks they're too firm, but she likes the barca-lounger seats in the minivan.

unique...thats gotta suck.
i havent really been dissapointed by anything yet. I guess the least performance i got from anything is probably the Bonez intake. It was kinda expensive too for the little adapter and the K&N filter. but it isnt that bad, cause it cleaned up the engine bay and i know it breathes a little better...

yeah i have to agree my bonez intake was probably worst $135 i could have spent considering i could have gotten a K&N filter for $30 and just made a bracket..... live and learn. i noticed more noise not really any more power from the car.
