dont say that all rap is crap. not all of it is bling bling ****. look at the pharcyde, the roots, Tribe, digable planets, De la, Common, black star, gang starr, dilated peoples need any more? Thats some good hip hop. Dont rag on all the stuff that is sometimes categorized under it because it aint all the same.
Pretty much if you're rapping about how awesome you are, how bad you hate the cops, how you're going to get revenge, how all black people are oppressed then I have zero respect for you.
Now if you turn around and DO something about the problems you're going on about and not selling a bill of goods that you somehow think is your "culture" and the like, I'll respect you.

Well I don't think all rap is crap. I like rap and just like listening to the old stuff because it makes me feel nostalgic I guess. I like to listen to dance or electonic stuff when I am driving. But I listen to new stuff all the time, its all good.

OK, this is going to date me, but you put Radar Love by Golden Earing on and tell me your foot doesn't push a little harder on the gas pedal! Also, Johnny 99 by Springsteen.
As to rap, its not my music, but it does have some poetry to it, its to bad none of them know how to play a musicial instruments(but that takes years of practice!)
Its not driving music, but I've seen Pink Floyd live three times, and thats just about as close to heaven on earth as you can get.
I'm not black, and I don't want to be a gangsta or rapper, but the Blues, now thats music the black race can be proud of inventing.

very tru...i agree with you, but dont say all rap is crap cause it aint all like that
Nah there is some good stuff out there, but I tend to think it's pretty few and far between ... of course I don't listen to it enough so there you go.
I think my whole issue with music these days is that it's so blasted repetative or whiny sounding. KILL THE DRUM MACHINE AND STOP SINGING THROUGH YOUR NOSE!

Ahhhhhh blues, I don't listen to it terribly often but there's some REALLY good stuff there. Chris King for example...
Guilty Pleasure: I like bluegrass at times or that "old timey" sound.
Hrmm go fast music....I can't listen to Freebird on city streets I'll wind up doing 90 in a 45....
Oddly enough I'm really selective on what classic rock I like, most guys seem to go all out on it (especially computer programmers). Even more weird is that I've liked more of it as I've gotten older. Used to hate Pink Floyd, these days I can listen to most anything they do.
Run Like Hell is good driving music!
Otherwise 99% of what I listen to most people have never heard of.
