I was given a computer for my son to use. The owner forgot the Windows 2000 ADMIN password. How do I get around that to set a new password

The easiest thing to do is reformat, if their's nothing important on there and if you have the OEM setup CDs.

I'll research it...I've done it before but I don't remember how...

l0pth crack will work but I don't trust em

The only reputable compnay I know of is winternals.

Otherwise you're pretty stuck save for some cracking software. Somtimes installing into a new directory will allow you access to the files depending on time of day, my mood and where Bill Gates is located

I had win 200o on a comp one time. Biggest pain in thw ***! I dont think you can reformat without the admin password either. The OEM cd's dont help either cause once again you need the password. I just bought a new hardrive

You must not be very computer smart.

Theres a bazillion different ways to reformat and i can think of NONE that require the admin pword of the OS installed on the harddrive your formatting.

From what ive seen OEM cds dont need the password either....

Affirmative.

Now that I think of it, I just reformatted that guy's laptop. It was too complicated to get the admin pw. He didn't care anyway. I just used the Dell CDs to get it back to the way it was before.

It ain't no thang.
