Erm.
What in the world possesed you to open up a millon copies of task manager?
I've been using XP since Beta 1 and never had it do that to me. *shrugs*
I guess if you hate MS so bad you could always just run Linux...*snickers*

snicker on you cause I do run Linux... nopistons.com is on Linux server, nopistons.net is on a linux server, stable-os.com is on a Linux server as well as providesite.com is on a linux server. I alos use it for my home systems... why do you find that funny cause I don't have to reboot everyday. LOL

No wait I figured out the funny part, I didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to purchase a sub-par product... that's gotta be it.

I've not rebooted this box in months save for the time I moved it, it's never crashed out on me save for the time I was doing some fairly naughty things with it. (IE running drivers that were not made for it)
I've never rebooted my production server at work, never goes down, never hiccups, never crashes. My test server doesn't even go down all that often and it's running beta code.
Of course, I don't run 2nd rate software by 2nd rate programmers like Netscape. Easily the most crash prone, hard to maintain software I've ever seen in my life. They've got ***** to say that Netscape 6 is a release...feels like a beta to me.
What do I get with Linux as far as a real network goes?
- NO managment tools. Zero. None.
- NO support
- NO Directory Services unless I want to pay for NDS from Novell
- NO automated install and repair services for software
- NO decent dev tools.
Plus I get to deal with Unix! OH BOY! I wanted to step back in time to a system that was made in the 1960's.
Win 2k gives so much right out of the box that makes it SO much easier to deal with, manage and control that Linux does not come anywhere close.
IIS 6.0 is faster then Apache btw.
I like Nopistons.net...but honestly? Coulda had it up and running allready with ASP.NET and it would be faster to boot. That being said, I do like PHP a lot.
This isn't to say that I won't run Linux where it's needed, it's just that in the grand scheme of things it's not good enough for mainstream.
FYI, I'm a network engineer, trainer, programmer in RL and I've dealt with both platforms. The one place MS is blowing everyone out of the water is the dev tools they come with. Visual Studio.NET is SO much better then anything else out there, easily. .NET is a joy to work with.

LOL Internet Insecure Server
Let's put it this way, I live in Redmond, I have had my fill of MS. Linux does have support so you are off base there. Easy isn't always better and usually isn't more powerful.
But I am not going to beat it to death, as Uniz sys admin I have my opinions as do you.

You're an *** I set up nopistons.net... built the server last Friday and was uploading to it on Friday night at 11:00 get your **** strait before you start telling me you could do it better. Faster whatever it's a ******* 700 MHZ box on a DSL connection your ASP isn't going to make DSL faster. Love to see that.
The bitch I had with it was a bad stick of memory, but I know that Ms products detect the stick and eject it from the box automatically so it doesn't cause any issues so you don't have to explain that to me.

PS once the software is installed I can have an HP-UX or a Linux box completely configured in less than 10 minutes... 15 if I have to configure samba.
