Using Cell Phones @ Gas Stations
#1
I don't get it. I have seen a couple signs where they post saying not to use your mobile while pumping gas...What's going to happen if you do? I can't see a mobile phone starting a fire or making you blow up. What's the rational?

other than not paying attention and spilling gas all over not much.
Mythbuster on TV did everything to see what would happen.Nothing.
However....especially FD.Static electricity in cold dry days is a true problem. Touch your **** when get out so as not to when the gas is pumping ,vapors on the way out could light up if you spark next to the fill bung.

Yeah, the real cause of most of the gas station explosions is static electricity. If you leave the pump, get into your car, get out, then touch the pump first thing, you can cause a big explosion.
Maybe most of the people went back into their cars to answer the phone?

One of those sooper dooper news shows like Hard Copy or somebody claimed you could make fumes explode with your cell phone.
Frankly a poor ignition system is way more dangerous if you ask me, bad plug wires arcing to something will blow your **** up way more effectively, and I don't see them tech inspecting every old shitbox that pulls up to the pump.

Mythbusters tried all they could, they couldnt make anything happen
even if the vapors do go on fire they say to let it just die out, problem is people pull the nozzle out and then they are in for a world of ****
