Their nice if you like a little french engine/trans in an overpriced car, but they do have a nice system for fixing dings/dents. Class is pulling up in a car that you got running(after working all night on it), with your own two hands. (been there, done this!)

I believe they used Renault 4cyl engines and transaxles. I don't think much of the performance of the renault engines, although I think they produced a small race/street sedan called a R5(or something like that.) I just remember it had very wide tires for a little car.
I liked Deloreans idea of a stainless steel car with no paint. If you get a ding, you just pound it out and sand the body until you get the brushed look. Plus no rust(a real factor here in the Pacific Northwest.)
The french make good wine, but Washington State makes better(and cheaper.) I even make better wine than some of the overpriced french wines I've tried.

DeLorean's used either a GMC or that funky Renault power train. Most DeLoreans that are still around have the GMC.
DeLorean's are not cheap, even one that has been wrecked will cost you quite a bit.
Parts for the car itself are not cheap, motor parts can be easy or mondo expensive. Body work is NOT fun for obvious reasons.
I always wanted to put a rotary in one tho, I know someone did.
That and find a vat big enough to anodize one....
