Sattelite Internet Access
#1
My internet is extremely slow.. and I'm getting tired of having to wait 20 minutes to view a damn page. I wanted DSL, but they don't offer it in my area.. those *****.. so I was thinking about getting a sattelite internet access thing.. like Direct TVor something. Does anyone use a sattelite for their internet access? Any suggestions? thanks.

DIRECT TV bailed out of internet access about 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure what other companies offer it, but I can tell you this. It is expensive for what you get. you get decent download speeds, but **** upload speeds. You need a special dish, not the regular dish that comes with the TV package, and when you have any type of storm in your area, forget the net. Sat. sucks for internet. If you cannot get cable, or dsl, just stick with dial up

Yeah satellite is very sucky. I mean, if you lived in an igloo in northen canada, it would be ok... Crappy upload, tons of latency, and spotty service in rain or snow.
It might be possible to get ISDN which is MUCH better than dial up... but usually it's expensive. Depending on where you live it might be a good option though.

It's a step up from Dial-Up. It usually runs on 64K modems and is sort of steady and reliable. I THINK
see if you can get wireless
