Rx-8 Sales Brochure/mag
#1
I just got a little magazine/sales brochure in the mail for the RX-8. Special Series, Guide ot the Mazda RX-8
Pretty darned cool.
Talks to some of the mazda guys, one of them says that "And as with the suspension, those who want more of that head=snapping power will be able to customize the car in their own way, whether that be in the form of a turbocharger or supercharger kit" That was from Noboru Katabuchi, the RX-8 Program manager.
Someone from Mazda talking about a supercharger or turbo kit? Awesome!
The stats as I'm sure you all know
0-60: 5.9sec
Quarter Mile: 14.5 @ 96.6mph
Road and track got 19mpg out of the car driving it around., did the slalom at 65.4 mph and got a top speed of 148 which is an electronic limit not physical. They also noted that the car requires a delciate touch to prvent the tail from coming around in transitions, but not so in the skidpad where it was nailed down.
They also showed off the Mazdaspeed RX-8, said the car handled great with four adults in the car and generally had one hell of a time with the car.
Also did a fairly close up look at the engine, it's got a new seal next to the main oil sweep seals to keep exahust gas from getting out unburned I think. The engine looks to have an extra port from the factor controlled by a shutter valve a la the 2nd gen 13b.
Pretty durned cool stuff

It prevents unburned exhaust gas from coming out? So no more tail pipe BBQs?
Also it did the slalom at only 65 mph? That's pretty sad.I would've thought it would've had a much better time? Bad driver maybe?
