does dow jones and nasdaq companies reporting quarterly hurt them because the focus is only on the next quarter instead of a long term?

No, it makes them more accountable. That may be a small side effect bu you can compare them to the 2 year terms of House members. They pay attention to their constituents more while the Senate is able to focus on long term more.

no, i was thinking we could have more responsible big companies if they had a longer term veiw of things. instead of just looking at costs right now, they could look at costs for a longer period?
