Cool

hi everyone!

I just got myself a pretty FD from PA. I'm looking for other FD/RX-7 enthusiasts to talk with and learn more about my car. I'll probably also need to find some good shops and mechanics too!

Please send me a message or just reply to this post. Thanks a lot! I'm looking forward to having a blast in my FD.

The car comes in this coming Monday. I'll let you all know how buying a car from eBay motors, trucking it across the country, and then shipping it to Honolulu all works out. *shiver*

Wow! The whole eBay motors thing is cool. It is probably hell of a lot easier if you live on "the mainland" U.S.

Here's the condensed story for everyone.

I love the FDs. I went to eBay. I found a nice looking slightly modified FD. I picked one up, and it cost me an additional $1900 just to ship the puppy from PA to Honolulu, HI. It took 9 weeks from the time I sent the check to the time I got my butt in the car.

I bought the car without ever seeing it. In retrospect, I would have payed a little less. The car idles funny, it smells like gas, and it is a little dirty. Other than that, it seems to be good. I still can't figure how to work the damn radio or foglights though.

more to the story soon...

hey, welcome to the rotary club. Im in honolulu hawaii as well. there are no rotary specility shops on honolulu/hawaii right now unfortunatly. if you need work done, you might beable to get wendel/hyperrex to do the work for you. gas smell in fd=normal (well if its comming out the exhuast, if its in the engien bay, look for leaking injectors/fpd asap!)

have fun and good luck

P.S. there are FD bunch of fd's on oahu and we have cruises every so often, contact sean for more info, his aim nick is "Mugensama" and mines is "Hawaii SilverRX7".

How does it idle funny? Does it have a slight shake? Please say no.

Good luck with it. I hope to be vacationing there in about 2 or 3 years once our new son gets bigger.

Congrats, be safe with it. I mean, be reckless, you're young. Right?

The idle fluctuates between 900 and 1400 rpms in 1 second cycles. It does this every few minutes or so.

The car has an APEXi Power FC/Commander unit. I don't know how to tune it. Help!

Hey skunks, who is wendel/hyperrex ? I really need to get this thing running smoothly asap or it isn't gonna pass safety and all. Not to mention that this is my only vehicle.

Thanks guys!

safty you dont need to worry about, its recon that better get you scared hehe.

BTW: Hawaii cops will think your stock fd suspension is modded (i just got a ticket the other week for having modded suspension when in actuality, i have the stock fd base model suspenison, and its 10 years old and is getting old haha). Also, watch out for cops everywhere, they are cracking down on recon/modded car/our stock cars cuz of those 2 dumbasses which crashed in their accord near comp usa while driving drunk!

in anycase, wendel/hyperrex is pretty much the only guy in hawaii which is doing/can do rotary stuff. I know a bit of stuff as well but I dont really do anything for anyone anymore (not enuf time, not enuf money). you should beable to find him around in speedhawaii or someother local forums, you might wanna ask him to trouble shoot your fd but it will cost ya. good luck
