get the kind that plays it in CD form...I know that's not really what you were asking, I thought I'd just throw that in...that way it's easy to burn mp3's on your computer without any special hardware, just programs you can download for free...and it can play regular cd's, too.

i am also looking for one for my little brother for christmas...

checked on pricewatch.com and they listed some different ones for different price ranges...including where to get them. also check out buy.com and some other retail places

found a samsung yepp (which was pretty cheap at $70) but only came with 32mb...but was expandable...

are you talking MP3 player for in the car, or a general MP3 player?

I've a YEPP that's good for listening to tunes when working out - available at pretty much any electronics store.

For my ReX I've the Sony MP70 which reads MP3 formet off of CDRW and CDR, so you can burn 180 or so songs to a CD in MP3 format, pop it in your car audio, and go.

There are now less expensive ones than the has-everything MP70

get the creative labs NOMAD muvo.

its great, the mp3's are stored on one of those usb hardrives, so your computer recognizes it as a removable drive, making transferring as easy as drag and dropping. no stoopid programs that hand that. its very small and very light. lastly, that removable drive thingy, you can use it to hold other kinds of files, to transfer from comp to comp. very versatile. only 130 bux.
