those "bands" are the whole secret to why that car drifts so well.

they are interchangeable and come it different compunds. The harder the compound, the easier they slide. also the bands sit just above the rest of the tire, so the is less surface contact with the pavement, again making it easier to slide

that vid is the yokomo cars, same as the ones you posted the pics of, as far as the HPI/apex'i drift car. that is the first I've heard of it.

I get all the insider info from a friend at HPI and he don't know ****.

I figure maybe some people here would like to know how to drift the r/c cars they allready own:

1. if it's 4wd you can disable the FWD, but the car will be hard as hell to control

2. lots of camber in the front the tires should look like this, looking from the front /\

3. hard crappy tires, they drift the best

4. open the rear diff, add a really thick oil, or epoxy the gears shut. A locked rear will slide out well

5. if thats too much work, and you don't care about being ghetto fabulous just wrap a bunch of electrical tape around the tires!!!!!!

Just like real cars, you will smack your r/c into a wall, curb.

Remember to drift an r/c is hard. they are light, you have no e-brake, and you can't operate the gas and brake at the same time. You have to learn how to use the 80/20 weight ratio to your advantage, and how to get that heavy *** of it to swing around

I have the fwd disabled, and its not too hard to drift with but this is a electric with a stock motor, not a mod. practice and a smooth hand is what you need.. I could really only drift good on some smooth almost garagish driveway at my dads. On normal pavement i had too much traction.

Im gonna try the electrical tape trick soon cause my rear tires are shredded to the foam.

You could always disconnect the RWD and steal food trays from the Barbie McDonalds...

oh and drifting electric cars is 100 times easier than nitro. electric cars have 100% torque as soon as you hit the throttle
