The shifter thing is there because they thought it would look cool, and remind people who know, about the old Honda Z500, which has a dash shifter.
Damn those Honda engineers and their vanity.

Strangely enough, I think their cars are a little more functional than aesthetic, but who knows?

THERE IT IS!

found the oogly pic of what the shifter is.

kevin.
From this picture, you can see that the shift **** is at least 12 inches higher than in the other Civics, putting it much closer to the 2 o'clock position on the wheel, which is where your hand should be when you reach for the shifter.

[quote name='75 Repu' date='May 2 2003, 11:01 AM'] WOW.. You guys have so much good material about Honduh.. Anyway I appreciate the cars, Si, Element, and Oddysey But would not buy them.. The shifter thing is there because they thought it would look cool, and remind people who know, about the old Honda Z500, which has a dash shifter.. Kinda like going back to their roots, like the nostalgia bit the American car makers are doin.

I drove one, and it is different, but not bad.. Anyways, Who said something about 17 second cars being slow.. You hurt my feelings.. I ran and 18.5 at Palmdale Wednesday night, which when converted to a sea level time is 17.9.. anyway.. Thank to teknics, and unique for the entertaining reading material.. and Mike too..
you should hit the dash when you run, easy 16's

Put some tire shine on the shift ****...then it'll be l33t and shiny, and you can punch the dash.

I personally think its a matter of preferance between dash and floor shifters.

Some like one some like the other.
