I am heavily into jazz. What suits your tastes? Boring elevator style (Newage), hardcore old school instrumental (my fav), or vocal?
I'm not really into the vocal, I've been downloading some of the older stuff, i like it, seems like there is a mood for both the old and new, some of the new stuff almost sounds like David Mathews, not really sure I would call it "Jazz", but hell I just started getting into it so I'm still feeling my around.

Miles Davis, Chick Corea, to name a few, Diana Krall is good stuff too.

Listened to her perform at the Chicago Theater, great show at a great venue, that whole city really. Lots of hot spots to catch performances in small clubs, Green Dolphin Street, Jazz Showcase to name a few.

In that case, I'll get you started off with some good traditional jazz discs, then we'll progress to the more obscure stuff when I think you can handle it :-):

Weather Report-Black Market

Tommy Flanagan Trio-Sea Changes

Charlie Hunter/Leon Parker-Duo

These are A+ jazz discs IMHO.

Old School Stuff like Miles and George Bensen.

My old roomate was a improvisational jazz musician. He was really good. He used to take me to these underground jazz clubs in Florida to see what he comsidered genious jazz musicians. He always kept his trumpet in the car, he almost always got recognized and invited up on stage to play.

I have a few Jazz CD's. Fusion jazz is pretty cool too.

BTW - He was from Hawaii and was friends with George Bensen he had pics of him and Geoge jamming together.

Miles Davis gave George one of his personalized signature trumpets, my buddy had a pic with him playing it. Really cool.

He met Miles after a concert in Hawaii. Miles went back stage to meet him, Miles liked his style.

It was cool living w/ a well known musician, the answering machine would have very interesting messages.
