****. I'm so damn old I can remember back when we had something called a telephone. It was the damnedest thing, but you could pick it up, push 7 buttons for a local call or 10 buttons for a long-distance call, and if they answered their phone when it rang, you could talk with that person. The service was rock solid reliable, and was pretty damn cheap. The equipment would last for decades and never need repair or upgrading. Bad thing was, you couldn't go anywhere with your phone because it had this damn wire attached to it, and if you cut the wire, the phone wouldn't work anymore. Hell, I suppose you could even accidentally strangle a cat with the damn cord if you weren't careful. But that's the way it was, and WE LIKED IT!

I had the same thing happen awhile back with my Itouch....twice actually... I had to reinstall the update again and then it worked. It was a bad install i suppose.

call Steve , he answers the phone personally and will take care of all your Apple problems, even though I thought there were no problems with apple!

yea you tried updating it when 50million others were, same thing happened to me, apple's servers got backed up so the update couldnt "call home" to authenticate.

i just did the update a half hour or so ago (my 3gs comes on friday, its at the ups place right now, but apple put a hold on it so we cant get it early)

just go thru it again im sure it'll be fine.

I'd reboot the phone and try the update again from another PC. I used my laptop and it went flawlessly, after a failed attempt on my desktop.

Don't really see any features worth the wait. F'ing AT&T, blocked the TEATHERING and still waiting on the MMS with Pics. Still waiting some 2 years+ later for flash... in the browser. But props to Apple for not charging for the upgrade.
