the 4.3 ring and pinion is the big big dollars. Can you run a small enough diameter tire to make the final drive like a 4.3?

double the price of the ring and pinion to get a idea of how much it costs with putting in new bearings and getting the depth and preload set up.

Jim,

Which lexan hatch did you get? specs? pics? Do u know how thick the lexan is? What about the type? Is is the scratch resistance kind?

I got it from here:

http://iscracing.net/new%20products.htm

When I took off my rear hatch and installed the new one I was amazed how much lighter it was. They say 20 lbs lighter it feels like more. I also used to have the rear windshield wiper.

I am not sure if its scratch resistant, its lexan. It is also a LOT more interior noise with it too. Its also pretty rough around the edges. Its for a race car not a show car so the finish of the hatch itself is pretty messy. You can see a decent dent in the middle of the top of it.

Jim, can you get more pics of it? pics of the rivets? (are those rivets they used to sercure lexan to the frame?) is it the stock frame they use or is it some thing they made custom. Also can you get pics of the two aluminum rail supports as well. THeir rough thickness, also how thick is the lexan you estimate at? I'm thinking of making my own. Also how is water prevented from leaking in? Did they use some sorta windsheild sealant? Any stock rubber stripping around the lexan and frame?

Get some masking tape and mask off the edge of the lexan sheet, leaving just a bit of lexan exposed. Get a thick pair of rubber gloves. Get a file or sandpaper and clean the edges from burrs and such. Get some methylene chloride and pour it on a rag and wipe the edge of the lexan.
