High idle

How long until these cars kick off the high idle? Mine seems to idle around 1500 rpm's for at least a half hour of solid driving, and then it eventually will go down to 750 - 800 rpm's. Is there a fix for this or is that normal? I just started driving the car everyday about a week ago.
