Woot, I'm stoked, I just plugged in my cable modem here at the new marina and **** synced up so I called them and they have the 12 to 16 mps service here, I have to have them come out and add my slip # to their service, but I am solid. Can finally get rid of this 5 gig per month cap on att and get some decent speed!!!

Not that I use it a lot, but Comcrap has announced that they are dropping newsgroups from their service.

I think so. They consistently rank near the bottom of the heap in terms of customer service. If they didn't have a monopoly on high speed internet in my area, I'd drop them like a turd.

I've had good luck with DSL, I think we lost it maybe once in the past several years (and service was lost in most of the area during that time, about 1.5 days). I routinely play on Xbox Live and never have problems, and I haven't been able to notice any difference in speed over cable. I have Embarq DSL, Embarq landline (cheapest possible plan), and Dish tv.

What's funny is twice so far I've been at someone's house who has Comcast digital cable, and I've seen the picture go out just like it does for satellite (all pixilated and what-not). I'm convinced Comcast gets their digital cable from a satellite and just sends it out over the lines, and charges more than Dish or Direct TV.
