My brother and I would take turns driving in endurance races. You drive until you need to pit for tires then switch drivers. Thats usually about 5-7 laps depending on what tires you use and car.
That way you get lots of breaks.
I have participated in open track days and the unwritten rule was not to stay out for more than 30 minutes. It would go really fast but after you pitted you would be really exhausted.
I cannot imagine driving for 1-2 hours.

I could've sworn I heard an announcer on a motorcycle race say they lose up to 6 pounds in fluid. I can't imagine the physical conditioning they would have to do in advance.
Wasn't there a video clip of a racer running to the porta-potty at the end of a race? Cracks me up.
