I've been there.
Has anyone read Mein Kampf?

Yes. The trouble with the book is that it's not totally coherant. If you look at it in light of the holocaust you'd wonder why anyone would fall for it. If you look at it through the lense of the time period it's a different story.
A good book on WWII and Hitler is the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I can't recall the author.

I can go on about this stuff for hours. I've forgotten a lot I'm sure but I used to be a WWII history buff. Hilter was a master at orchestrating things and getting people to follow with them.
On bad war decisisons had Hilter just kept the bombing of england up for a few more days odds are they would have fallen and that would have seriously changed the outcome of the war.

William Shire or something like that wrote the rise and fall of the third reich.
Yeah, If hitler would have kept bombing the airfeilds of britan instead of switching to bombing citys the outcome of the battle of britan would have been way different.

The battle of Britian wasnt the major turning point in the war. Russia was what killed Germany. How many Germans died in the invasion of Russia 2 or 3 million? And dont forget Kursk the largest tank battle in history. And Stalingrad, I think half a million Germans were killed or captured and they still didnt capture the city. Attacking Russia exhausted Germany manpower and resources. They were on the defensive for the rest of the war.

I think it was like 8 out of 10 germans that died were being killed/captured on the eastern front.

This is great stuff.
Eddie Izzard comes to mind: "Napolean was the first to invade Russia. Everyone though it was a great idea...Napolean: 'it's a bit cold, it's a bit cold...'"
Hah, Hitler tried the same thing and also found out how cold it was...
Oh and about Germany: something about how the Germans would build up a glorious empire, celebrate with a world war, and then lose the whole ******* thing.
