Freakin' 3rd Gen Manual Sucks

MOST OFTEN REASSEMBLING IS THE REVERSE OF DIASSEMBLY...
BUT WHEN I TOOK APART MY ALTERNATOR SO I CAN POLISH THE CASE... TWO METAL PIECES, (I BELIEVE THEY'RE CALLED BRUSHINGS) WERE PREVENTING ME FROM REASSEMBLING THE ALTERNATOR! GRR!!! THE MANUAL NEVER TOLD ME ANYTHING ABOUT THAT!
ANYWAYS, SO I BROKE THE TWO PEICES.... and I'm sending it off to gotham racing for them to polish and rebuild the alternator...
DAMN, serves me right for fiddling with things I don't know...

You will love the way your alternator is going to look after they get done with it. The last time I was over there they had one out and it looked really nice. I was very impressed with all the work they did to my car and other peoples cars.

yeah if they just fell out, it's easy to fix. on the back of the alternator there are 2 small pinholes that line up with the brushes. you push the brushes back in with a pick, then put a small pin in each hole to hold the brushes in place, when you are all done, just pull the 2 pins out and you are good to go

rebuilding an alternator is easy peasy work, altho some are a bitch to get the brushes seated properly before putting it together, they sell like $$$$ tools to do it easily but screwdrivers work nicely in most situations. ive never seen an fd one apart so i couldnt give any good tips lol, as long as you didnt break the wires connecting to the brushes.
