the cd is fine...you will have to re-format the HD...if the cd worked for you, it will work for her and unless the cd is dirty, its fine. by dirty I mean even the tiniest piece of dirt can cause an error during installation. hope she has backups of her ****, or get a dos based retrieval system...that might work. I dont know of any...I havent used it.

note: if her computer is a dell, gateway, etc., that sucks, they dont play well together so to speak. and it is most likely a corrupt file/block on the harddrive.

its a ******* compaq. I was thinking it was the cdrom because it has 98 so i started there, and at 9% it gave cd errors. Then xp boot from cd tells me that "pick a file" is corrupt.

**** it probly is the HDD. She didnt have anything on it. I have an extra WD 20gig around somewhere i can part with.....dammit.

If you ever need to install XP, you NEED this keygen: Right click, save as.

Instructions:

1) Change the Software drop down option to "WiNDOWS XP CORP."

2) Change mode to "Find Key"

3) Change Num. of Searches to "100"

4) Change Max Keys to find to at least 3

5) Check "Save found Keys in Log File"

6) Click Process and let it sit for awhile.

7) Enter one of the keys it finds and presto-chango you have a legit version of XP that does not have to be activated.
