how come none of you computer geniuses could tell me to use one of those to transfer the files from my old computers to my new ones?

lousy $20 cable solves my problems, no need to remove hard drives and all that other nonsense

yeah crossover cables are great, it makes it where you can make a network between 2 comps with no router. stores rip you off though, i got a 25 foot one from the local store for like 17 bucks, but newegg.com has them for like $4. just depends if you want to wait for shipping or not

Yeah, we have a ****-*** Linksys wireless router that is absolutely horrible. ****** just cuts out like every 1/2 hour. I guess it doesn't help that the router is upstairs while the other receiver is downstairs at the complete opposite end of the house...
