External Hard Drive
#11
Don't think I'm trying to act smart here ppl, but ALL external HD's are internal HD's...just in an enclosure, mostly it's just older slower drives they can't sell as well anymore, go ahead take one apart and see....as far as that goes, you can buy a REAL crappy external, yank out the crappy drive and throw in a good drive and go from there, you're still limited by your connection, USB in most cases...

I know from experience that internal hard drives can be used externally, I just don't know for how long. I had to hook mine and my sister's computers together to save some of my files before I formatted. We weren't on a network at the time so I just had to wag my case in there and hook up my HD real quick so I could pull about 2 GB worth off of it onto hers, then transfer it over the network afterwards. (I couldn't get my computer started since something deleted a lot of information out of my Windows folder and it couldn't start.) That's certainly not for everyone, it was unique to my situation.
