FDs get the chicks... FCs don't
I actually picked up a chick in my FC once...girl lived in my apartment complex...gave her a ride to class...she commented: "wow, nice car!"...hooked up with her at a party later that night score

As for the debate...drove a 12 sec FD one time...and it would blow the doors of my T2...but I wouldn't own one

I am hooked on Fd's and I will say that if you are not used to driving one you can get yourself in trouble behind the wheel in a hurry.

I have never driven a FC. I do want a white one though once I find the right price. But chances are that I will end up buying another 3rd gen instead.

I also want to state that the fd has a bad wrap on the issue of not being able to beat on it. I beat the **** out of mine when I drive and I have never once had any mechanical issues with them in the last five years that I have owned them. I have had three for the record.

I lost coolant seals once (60k on 9 year old seals that got cooked by turbos everyday, not to shabby IMO) And minor boost leaks here and there that I always fix asap.

And I did break the blades off a compressor wheel once. (my fault) Tune them, well, cvhange the oil frequently and use premix and they are rock solid cars.

Race cars, fighter jets, anything that is expected to have hi-performance with regards to speed and manuverability and be quick needs to be an unstable system.
You really need to drive a REAL race car on a track in anger before you say that. Aero (or winged/spoiler cars as fools call them) cars are more stable and get higher and higher levels of grip at you increase your speed. $15,000 for a low time used Star/mazda. You cant beat that with a baseball bat....get a formula car guys please

Formula Mazda > all rx-7's

I like all rx-7's, each series has its own, totally unique look. FB's high roll center rear suspension make the car a RIOT at the limit. The Fc's benign demeanor and chiseled musclecar looks. The sexy curves of the FD.

As for perfomance, That arguement needs to stop right now. We all know that money is the root of all speed. I can buy a mandeville-chassis'd (tubeframe) GTU FB for 50K and kill any FD, I can dump 25k at my vert and win a E-prod national with it. I can throw 100,000 dollars at a FD and race in the ALMS series at sebring and le mans.

****...the 4 rotor GTO class fc of yester-year is for sale now

**** guys....pick your poison

OK, I'll jump in here. At one time or another, I've owned all 3 gens. Currently using an 85 GSL as an 'almost' daily driver. (Also have a jeep cherokee for extreme weather). I practically abuse the poor GSL day-in and day-out and have absolute confidence in the car. Its not much to look at anymore, and its probably lost a bit of hp over the years (130k+) but I love tossing it in and out of curves because I know exactly how the car will react. As Vosko said, there's nothing to break!

It's totally reliable, bought the car at 88k and all it needed since then were new brakes, master cylinder, and tires. Car is on the front lines of traffic almost every day and I will not be surprised to hit 200k.

My FD?, only a weekend car, and I have to admit i"m guilty of pampering it sometimes, but I do get on it. Maybe because I don't drive it enough (only about 3-4k/yr) that I don't enjoy the 'familiarity' of it as much.

But whenever I drive it, I'm saying to myself 'I love this car'!
