Do you have the manual for your motherboard? It might be able to tell you a little more about the error, like, what exactly is wrong...something like that.

remove the side of the case and turn the PC on. if you hear a lound tapping or pinging you are going to need a new HDD. next step would be to run scandisk in windows (or DOS if you can't get to OS) and you wan't to run a surface scan. regardless backup your ****!
