my gripe with the scion is they keep calling them unique and individualistic but they are so corporate its redundent. How can something that looks exactly the same as everyone else's be original? Its like buying a gas powered xmod....

I dunno, I don't really think that much when looking at a car. It gives me a headache. I just look at it. If it is ugly, pass it on, if it looks good, COOL!

It's original because you can buy accessories from the factory.. in fact, that's Scion's main marketing theme, and the first brand to build their strategy around customization.. Which makes them unique to the market.

The cobalt is NOT a cav.



Every mag that drives one has given it a rave. GM knows the cav sucked and it is doing something about it.



One of the reasons the cav sucked so bad was because it had to cover the very low price bracket and the slightly higher price range for the nicer models. So all that bean counting to get them as cheep as possible killed the the car. Now that chevy has the Aveo they dont need to worry about selling the car to entry level buyers, so more quality will be put into the car.

Does anyone have any personal experience with the Hyundai Accent? They have a very good warrenty and its not a bad looking car, nice features, good tag.

ive had friends that have owned the accent (and heard from other people who also had one) that the transmission completely sucks and will revolt and commit suicide unless its rebuilt at around 30-40 thou miles. Also, the spring/damping rates are a bit wierd. I know you said you wanted a new car, but my suggestion for the price bracket would be a late-model protege, ive seen one with ~25 thou miles for $7000 near me

HAHA we did speaches in college (last year) on cars -- Hyundai got the most bad reviews by first hand owners. First off there grand warrany well right down everything - every oil change every spark pulg to a T on how they say to do it. They do not like to honor warrenty work and try to **** you in any way possible. I have also never seen a hyundai look good after 1 year - they start to deteriorate very quickly. For example small squeeks and little things breaking. Also keep in mind a hyundai has vertiouly(sp) no resale value so your just throwin your money in the whole.



I realize you don't want to spend more than 10 k but I think it would be wise to spend 14 on a more reliable vehicle that will hold it's value, or buy somehting used a few years old for 10k that will hold value and be reliable.





Before you make a decision I would sugges subscribing to consumer reports and reading those on the Hyundai - I don't believe they are rated very well.
