CS 1.6 is out (for those of you that are a bit behind like I was).



For a while I was trying to use 1.5 still and so many servers "Sold out" to 1.6 so I kept getting this error about the server being a "Lan" server.



I didn't want to "convert" because I had such a sweet setup with 1.5 and didn't think 1.6 was popular enough....



Anyways, I finally downloaded 1.6 last night. Now I can't use All-Seeing-Eye anymore but it comes with a program called "Steam" (Weird, I know, and the logo looks like a shlong).



I saved my CSTRIKE folder on a CD-R so that when 1.6 replaces all of my ultra-stellar gun models and sounds that I could swap it back to normal....but it didn't work! I replaced all sounds and models in my current CStrike folder with the CD-R one (From my sweet mixed 1.5 setup) and I even tried downloading a new "Realism" pack and let it upload itself....yet 1.6 won't recognize it! Anyone know what I have to do?



FWIW, 1.6 seems cool, nothing that big of a deal cept the Steam thing....and now it's lost all of my cool models/skins/sounds and I want them back damnit! The stock sounds are so crappy! *Pat pat pat*

 

Put the files in your Steam/SteamApps/your_email_address/Counter-Strike/ folder in the same manor they were before. IE: Models in same directory structure as before.

Im thinking about re-installing counter strike, ive been addicted to battlefield 9142 for the past few months haha

I went to the steam folder, and only saw things like Email Address so I didn't bother clicking within that.



Oh man I can't wait to get home and fix it. I am at work now blah.

 

Was never a big fan of CS, love HL though. Ran my own server for a few months when i had cable (my old house), havent played in a few months though.

 

yeah, I dont even plat cs anymore. Its all about desert combat (modern mod for battlefield 1941). The fast jets the ships the scuds, the tanks, its just so fun I am addicted...

 

i played cs until i started getting shot by invisible people and ****. It was funny, when I lan'd with 4 buddies I would end games w/ 60 frags 4 deaths, online it was like half and half. (yes I was on dsl) im a bad **** w/ some duals

 

yea? who made Battlefied 1941? I keep hearing about it but never checked it out.



Free to play online? Just buy the game? Download mods? Same as CS?

and i havn't played CS since all the little fairy's got hold of the source code and started making it the most homosexual game online. in all the world the game that has the most cheaters is CS. i play battlefield, dessert combat, and have yet to try the new mod based of the starwars universe, MOHAA, starcraft (rarely), and thats it.
