Well tonight we went over to my G/f's moms house...

Well I roll up into there driveway and on the otherside of the alley I see an old black eclipse in need of a paint job. So I walk over and notice it has a For sale sign on it. So I get to looking.... GSX badging.... hhmmm... looked more... 16 inch wheels... kept looking...AWD badging on the side B pillars.. hhmmm... so maybe an actual GSX... looked more stock boost gauge. So it was a real GSX cool. Went and got a flashlight it was a bit dark. Looked more. Pretty clean interior very high miles. It passed its emissions in 2001 but the license plates are in july and about to expire.

So here is what I found...

1990 Eclipse GSX

5 spd

AWD

Turbo

177,xxx miles

Needs paint

Clean interior no major rips or wear

But in pretty good shape

Am thinking about giving the owner a call...

I do suspect something wrong with the car. It had been previously been parked behind a tree. So I do suspect it needs a motor clutch or something. Which means maybe I can pick it up super cheap.

So I will give him a ring probably and see what he want and what is wrong with it. But this could be a good winter car if I pick up a RX7 or keep the GT which I probably wont be keeping the GT it is on my last nerve...

So what do you guys think? I posted this here because more traffic and because it is barely an other car topic... So let me know what you guys think. I dont think I would pay over a grand for it. But I am considering it. Very very minor rust about 2 spots the size of a quarter.

Probably has a boost leak if not a few. Old 4g63's tend to have quite a few problems with boost leaks. Nothing big if you plan on working on it. Good luck on getting it. 1st Gen GSX's have so much potential.

Boost leak from where???

Just all the hoses?

I had already started looking up stuff and found HKS turbo piping.... and some other crap.. Yep had planned on it needing some work so I had planned on not paying much for it either. But the interior seems to be in really good shape. Just needs some paint. But I do suspect mechanical gremlins!

You better search for 2 nickles to rub together first Seppuku Keep in mind stang that that drivetrain must be mucho dinero to work on when something breaks, but im sure used parts are plentifull.

hhhmmmm......

Another stl guy huh?

Cool cool...

I am waiting to here back from some of my job interviews then I will contact the guy about the car. I know it needs some work most likely... if nothing else and the drivetrain does break I can convert to fwd instead of AWD. Keep in mind I would be buying this car doing a few mods and using it as a daily driver since I have 3 other cars right now....

Id have to choke you if you did that.

Find someone with a built AWD, and ask him to launch it at 5000 rpms.

That **********er will take off faster than the Mr Freeze. It is where the term "throw you back in the seat" came from.
