I'm sorry I smoked an Astral, I don't know what I was thinking, when I said Ashtan. Green is just a term used to mean that it is young, or ripe. That means it needs to age a little longer to really embody and pull the flavor. Like I said, I think maybe a month or two and it would be a great smoke.

Well I just got back from the cigar shop. Smoked a Punch there. It was okay. It had an okay spice that was very consistent the whole way through, but not much else. It really didn't have much other tastes aside from that. The wrapper also cracked on me near the end. It sat in my humidor for a couple weeks and was kept at 70% humidity. I bought it from a different shop than I go to now, and believe that it was humidified properly and stressed it too much when it got to my humidor. I may try one later on, but I won't be expecting much.

Which country? Cuban or other? I've tried Cuban Romeo et Juliet's and wasn't a fan. I'm totally signing up for that board phins!

Everybody has their own preferences. Why is it that I'm the first person to post since Sept 24 2004?

Smoked an Astral, Talanga Valley Selection, Robusto. Very good cigar, it had a nice spice in the beginning that gave way to a coffee and dark chocolate taste, I damn near burned my fingers on it in the end. The draw was effortless, just perfect for me. I thouroughly enjoyed this cigar and would recommend it. It also comes in a Pyramid but I haven't tried that one yet.

WOW!!! Tonight was a great night. Went down to the Cigar Den, and smoked an Oliveros, Classic Collection. It has a full Cameroon wrapper. It started off with a nice spice that gave way to a wonderful smooth sweet flavor. Absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this cigar.

I also bought a new double blade cutter, that works a hell of a lot better than the single blade I have. Watched part of Smokey and the Bandit 2 with a couple grad students and talked a while with them. It was really great, they're were really nice guys and I enjoyed the conversation. I bought a couple new cigars and some propylene glycol. The owner also got a new shipment in, and gave me and the two other grad students each one of the cigars from the new box he recieved, a five dollar smoke for free. It was a very nice gesture. His wife also had an extra Monte Critso box that she was saving, and she gave it to me. Nice fully cedar lined, white box, that will be able to hold my larger cigars and seal them better than my current humidor. It was a really great night. I'm very glad that I have made this place my regular cigar shop.

Well there has been a decrease in activity in this thread. But from what I have heard the Talanga Valley Selection from Astral may be being cut from the industry at some point. I have had a couple good smokes lately; Macanudo Maduro, it was a bellicoso size, very good. Astral perfecto no 1. Great smoke. And a Romeo Y Juliet Maduro Reserve, which is one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. Well anyone else had anything good lately?
