Autocrossing.................
#2
I have so lost interest in Autocrossing. It seems like a gathering place for geeks who have nothing better to do but memorize a rule book. If I go to 4 events next year it will be a lot.
Where else can you go and a Ford Escort can hang with a Corvette??
I have moved on to open track days much more fun. No bullshit no rules as far as car setup goes just go out and drive fast.

I can't argue with that assesment Jim. Which is why I am going to (You can have me committed to a mental asylum) be the event director next year for an event. I want to make it FUN again. Any suggestions?

Yeah, get rid of that Bullshyte rule about noise!!!! I have never heard of anything more retarded in my life. A contest for supposed fast cars and you have to be quiet too?? I'm sure that you'll agree with me on that one won't you John??

The more I think about it the more I realize how much of a waste of time it is. I got into Autocrossing because I like to drive my car hard. I was a natural at it, winning novice my 1st time out, I wish that never happened I started to be consumed with winning especially when I was classed in ASP and the RULES kept me from having a boost controler so I had 250HP to the Vipers and Vettes 400+ HP. I liked being the underdog and winning its like when you take out a Vette on the street. He never expected it. Same thing.
Somewhere along the way I stopped having fun. I think its all the sitting around. I did a reality check and decided all I really want to do is drive my car hard and fast. Open track days it is.
There are other factors that helped me decide too. Certain people (not here) have been ******** and viewed my posting wins as distasteful. Sorry for getting excited for beating a corvette with a national champ at the wheel dude! I posted a simple question about a rule change on the SCCA forum and got my head chewed off and told to read the book. There are a lot off ******** in the SCCA too much politics. I just got turned off to the whole thing.
I hope you can make a differance Banzai, you have your work cut out for you.

Seems like a lot of the SCCA organizers/members here act like a high school click. The waiting around for several hours part is not the best either.
I do have to say that the driving school they hold once or twice a year is pretty cool. Much more driving time and a lot less waiting around.
