I figured this would have more of an effect here than in the NE Section which isn't nearly as active here, much like the Deals Gap thread. Move it if need be.

Come find out I'm not an elitist *****! Meet PhoenixDownVII and fondle other Rx7s!

The Poughkeepsie car club [ www.psccny.com ]holds an AutoX once a month at an airport here in Orange County every year. I've been attending and watching for 2 full seasons now, and am anticipating to finally race a car (my new Rx7) this season.

The 17th is the first one this season, so it's going to be less competitive (I.e. No Trophies) and more "instructive". A car club in westchester lost their track normally available to them, so they are expecting a bigger turnout.

I've been to two other autox's, and judging from them and what I've seen posted online, this AutoX here at the airport is "Small". It's a "2nd Gear" autox. Track times are normally between 35-45seconds, and you can imagine how "wide" a runway is....there's not much room for 3-4th gear straightaways.

Anyways, if you want to come by, there's no pressure to race, just come and watch! If you want to race, you have to be there early (8:00am) and with $ ($35 I believe). Come late and watch for free if you prefer that too

My purpose here is to meet local owners, and have more of a reason for you local's to get together than to just let me fondle your cars . So, with that, if you are coming, no need to get a roll call, just show up.

After the AutoX, given I live 2 minutes from the autox (I can see it from my house), I figured all of us Rx7 folk can get together at my place for a BBQ (Woot, first one this year for me!) and then somewhere to take pictures. Depending on who/how many show up of course.

Directions can be found on that site I'm sure, but the access to the airport (it's a small private one for those that don't know of it) is off of Route 211 in Montgomery. Just as you're leaving montgomery towards Middletown (west), it's entrance is on the right after it becomes 55mph. Approach the AutoX slowly, don't show off and get kicked off.

Instead of calling/asking who will be there, just show up and be sure to talk with me. My MBM FD will be there, very stock looking 94. I'll be wearing my black Hurley Hat no doubt (since helmet hair sucks on me ha), so just find me and we'll all gather 'round afterwards.

This is very worthwhile if you are local to Orange County, you'll meet other *local* guys and have something fun to watch/do on a Sunny Sunday Afternoon.

LOL, Ontareo isn't exactly local, but all are welcome if you feel like driving 3-55 hours to get here and see a small autoX and then my face.
