I am about to make a copy of a Windows .iso (legal) and I was wondering if I should get 2000 pro or XP. Any suggestions in the next few minutes would be appreciated.

I like XP more then Pro, but you need to make sure your system can run it and everything works with XP.

Personally, I prefer PRO...it has NT technology and in my opinion will run more programs more often at less hasle. The tech support for PRO is also greater right now if you have a problem w/ anything...

..I am an ex programmer, so I always look at things from a programming point of view, and personally PRO is a very good system..I've only used XP a few times so I have nothing really negative to say about it yet...

I'm using XP right now and i didnt pay for it (thanks bill gates) they only problem i have with it is that it needs to be rebooted every once and a while apparently b/c of memory leaks, or somthing like that. one of the benefits is that you don't get the blue screen of death which is a plus. as for PRO i have never used it so i cant say anything about it.

XP is on the NT codebase

XP has more of a future then Pro does, is a bit more flexable. Still, Pro has more time on it so will be more stable.

Well, the comp I was doing the burn on crapped out on me, so I didn't get anything yet. I am going to go back later and get some VB software, so I'll get the OS then. I still haven't decided which one to get, so maybe I'll just get a copy of both...can't beat the price.

As far as I know 2000 has been pulled, I know they don't have it in the Microsofy store any longer. May still be sitting on some shelves around town.

I can get any MS OS from my school...it's nice to be a comp sci major. Why did they pull it, though? I don't want any more problems than I am having with 98.
