Looking for something for work, and also for a little bit of fun with games and interweb. How decent are they as far as reliability? I will probably go with something with a P4 processor. The things have never failed me. I actually have never had a computer fail on me, as far as parts breaking.

Just looking for recommendations. I don't want HP, had it for a while in a desktop, have E-machines, hate it. Folks have DELL, but I don't want a DELL.

Let me have it.

I've got a gateway. It works great but there customer services sucks big time. My memory card reader stopped working and it took 4 trips back to gateway before it was finally fixed. I don't think I'll ever buy another one from them now. I haven't had any issues since and it has worked great but they really pissed me off during my problem.

I almost bought a Sony Vio when I bought my gateway. I think that's what I'll buy next.

VAIO is really too much for me. It's just some silly look to the notebook. I am actually looking to spend under 1k on this, as it will just be a small database backup for work, playing games, wireless web(most come with the card already). I just get tired of having a desktop.

And Alienware's computers are actually under 1k, but only a select few, and they are pretty basic.

yea i usually burn mine trying to rub it on something hot, helps if you spit on it a little first, then if you hear that "ssssss" sound you can abort with less long term damage.
