Here is what happened...



I was on my way home from practice. A teammate of mine was in front of me, with one car in-between. We both live off the same road, and our left turn was coming up.



My teammate just cut across the lane without looking, and pulled out right in front of a oncoming suburban. The suburban swerved to avoid him. The suburban swerved right into my lane. I had to nail the gas ( i was slowing down to make the turn) and go over the shoulder/grass.



The suburban went out of control, flipped over once and slammed into a ditch. The kid (who was now on the road he turned on) slowed down, saw the crash, then peeled out and left down the road.



I stopped, called 911, and made sure the people in the suburban were ok. Amazingly the mother and her 12 y.o. Daughter were ok, but had whiplash, etc.



I left before the cops came, there were plenty of other witnesses.



Right now, I don’t know what to do. The kid can be a big dick (shown here) and i really feel like i should let somebody know what he did. Maybe a complete asswhooping is in order?



What would you do in my spot? I dont want to rat out my friend (well kind of friend) but he almost got myself and the people in the suburban killed!

 

go tell the cops...he put you at risk...**** him. you never know, he may do something like that again and really kill someone.

 

tell the cop his plates and agree that its an anonymous tip

 

yeah dude, what he did is fucked....and he could have killed you and the people, he was irresponsible and needs to be reported, just do it anonymously

 

I think i'm going to bring it up tomorrow, but my *** could be on the line too, for keeping in information like this

 

dud,e tell the cops, you shouldnt get in trouble, your not the one who casued the wreck

 

tip it anonymously, make sure you do it from a payphone tho, since they trace calls and all.

 

I'm going to ask him about it tomorrow, but play dumb and see what he says about it. If he is still denying or whatever ill go from there.

 

does your town have good sumaritan(sp) laws? if not you can't get in trouble for holding information, plus you did call 911, so if they do have good sumaritan laws, you did your part. So i'd say your good

 

Get the kids plate number and tell the cops what happened tell them you saw it and give them the plate number. You won't get in trouble just say you followed him till he stopped so you could get the plate number and thats why you didn't stay.



You can't get in trouble for witholding the information anyway. The cops don't care they will take info whenever they can.
