Last time I bought tires from them was for the GSL-SE - I got 195/60-14s, where the stock size is 205/60-14. They didn't even comment.

I mount and balance my own tires for free

If you do a search buy vehicle on the Tirerack site than they will only let you order the stock tire size for the vehicle. Just start the search by brands and go from there, you should be able to order whatever you want. I just ordered some 225x60x15 for my se, where the stock tire size was like 185 or something. The customer service rep mentioned that the size was larger than stock, but thats all.

As for the mounting just call around to some local shops and see how much they charge. The big chain around here ( Les Schwab Tires) will no longer mount tires and wheels that are bought off the internet or are not their own. I have a local place that does mine for 10$ a tire. They always do a good job and are cool to BS with.

I was a dealer with Tire Rack and I could order any size tire you wanted. I never heard about them having liability issues with ordering non stock size tires for a car. I don't understand how they can tell you what wheels you have on your car to decide what tires you want to go with them...that makes no sense.

Quote from Banzaitoyota:

"Decide on Nitto N-555 in 225/50/15. Order on tirerack.com."

Tire Rack doesn't sell Nittos. So how is this possible? Also you can order tires from them without specifying what kind of car you drive so this all sounds kind of odd to me. Can someone else explain?

I don't have a database for their company, I have a database for my own. I just deal some of their tires, they get some good deals on tires once in a while.

About DT owning TR....are you being literal as in they actually own them, or are you being sarcastic about the whole DT OW3NS TR?

TR is much cheaper than DT, but DT offers free shipping to customers so sometimes that makes them even, but in general TR is cheaper.

If you are being literal, I have heard rumors of that as well, but I don't beleive it is true. TR started out as a small 5000 tire wherehouse in South Bend, IN about 17 years ago and they have grown into what they are today.
