HI Guys,

I'm a newbie here. Would really like to know how do you actually identify the year 2000 FD3S engine, are there any visual differences between the 265ps engine compared to the 280ps engine. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Shedden

thanks vosko, but i need something visible, as i'm thinking of buying a 280ps engine to transplant it into my 265ps FD.

i was told that the j spec moters have smaller intake ports than the us version.....i could be wrong but if thats the case i would have your moter redone! There is a place in canada called rx7specialties they do a new moter w/3mm seals and new housings and a street port for 2980 shipped

there web site is rx7specialties.com if ya want to check them out.... they do a stock moter for 1960 shipped.................the prob..buying a j spec moter is you have know idea of the life it had before you......i would ask vosko about the j spec moter............ but this is IMO

all FD engines have the same ports stock. COSMO engines have bigger ports!!!! they are very large !

FD3SR unless your 265PS engine is blown. keep it. there is no point in spending the $$$ on a 280PS one. just use the money you saved to get some mods and you will be way over 280ps. you can get 320 ps at the wheels easily !

the actual engines are the same between the 280ps (n3g1) and the 265ps (n3f1).

the only difference are the turbos, ecu and downpipe.
