Now I dont have the convertion kit completely made yet, but I'm just gauging interest in this sort of swap.

Basically it will allow you to bolt any EJ series Subaru motor to your Turbo II tranny.

The kit will consist of a tranny adapter plate, flywheel adapter and the proper motor mounts. You will need to use a flywheel that will bolt onto a auto tranny counterweight. Your best bet is an aftermarket lightweight flywheel.

Engine management will be left up to you to decide and the flywheel as well.

Email me with your questions at rx7_wankel@hotmail.com

Thanks Joe

It isn't a bad idea, as piston swaps go . . . but on this forum you're likely to get more interest in a kit to rotarize a piston car than the other way around

Also, your email address is just a little ironic, don't you think

It would be a good thing for someone looking to do a RWD conversion on a subaru. It would give the subie guys a strong 5 speed to use instead of the Glassmission they come with. I would try posting this on subaru forums for interest. Swapping an EJ20 into an RX7 is a waste IMHO.

The Japanese gave them that name. There is a reason for that. Those trannies cannot hold any type of power. They break with 300whp, sometimes less. I know plenty of guys that broke them from a roll on the highway just trying to accelerate. There are people who can't drive that own all types of cars, I know people that broke EVO trannies with no mods done to their cars, so that is a weak arguement. They're just not strong transmissions. I happen to like subaru's, I'm just telling the truth.

I hate to say it but they are glassmissions. I beat the **** out of my FD tranny...never any problems. I did the same on both my FC TII and FC n/a and no problems. The one thing that the RX7 has done right is the tranny. It's quite stout. I have friends here in Japan that have tranny's go out with simple bolt ons. I can dump the clutch at a dead stop, from a roll in any gear and don't have to worry about my mission breaking. I know of a good friend of mine who had 2nd gear go out simply by accelerating onto the freeway.
