3rd Gen 13b Into An 86 N/a Gtu
#1
Ok, I just bought an 86 GTU for $300 with a bad motor (low compression). Anyway, I have been trying to decide what engine to put in the car for about a month now. I'm either going to go with the Turbo II or 3rd gen 13B. My question is has anyone done, or known anyone that has done the 3rd gen swap into a 2nd gen 7? If so, what all will I need besides the actual engine and a new ECU? If anyone can give me any advice it would be appreciated as I almost have enough cash to buy the rebuilt 3rd gen engine and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on which engine would be better. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

yeah talk to jim about it
I can tell you that the motor mounts are copmletely different so jim had to make a cradle for it to fit.
rew's are awesome blocks, you just have to evaluate your cash situation

You need a lot of money.
Thats about it. My project got out of control and by the time I realized it was going to cost more than buying a good running FD it was too late.
I was adding it all up the other day. The whole project ended up running me about 16K.
I spared no expense though. I bought the best of everything. Motec M-4 ECU
HKS T-04E Turbo kit - Greddy FMIC that I tossed and had a custom Spearco FMIC built and used to greddy pipes. It got out of control.
But I love having a total sleeper. Close to 400 HP capable of running the 1/4 in the 11's and can turn on a dime. I would do it over again in a minute.
