haltech engine management system
#1
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the haltech engine management systems ( what is that? ).... I was wondering if that system bypasses the computer all together or if it is a plugin.... it's an expensive system but with the number of things that it does it would be more cost effecient then having to buy a boost controller, other ignition systems, etc..... so if anyone has any info on it please let me know....

The haltech e6k will completely eliminate the stock ecu and wire harness. It comes with its own harness that you will have to intergrate into the old one. This is one of the best ecu's to tune and datalog your car with. It gives you control over pretty much everthing you will ever need, and includes auxillery outputs that come in handy. I am not sure if you can use it as a boost controller since I use a seperate boost controller. I paid about 1300 for mine and I have heard that you can buy it and have it installed for 1700. You should download the demo software at haltech's website.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. As for boost control, the haltech will control your stock wastegate solenoid. I've heard it doesn't always do a good job and most people go with aftermarket controllers. I use a manual pressure valve to control my boost. If you need any help on the install don't be afraid to speak up. I will be checking this on a regualr basis now. Obviously I haven't been in the past month

If you are **** like me when it comes to upgrades and installations. Go to radio shack and get yourself extra wires in different colors and gauges. Good quality wire cutters, crimpers, terminal crimpers, a lot of wire looms in different sizes (and colors if you want) and plan out your installation.
Give youself time and patience and it will work out. Read the hitman's website for the tips, plan out how you are going to make the tps to work (hardest part).

Any questions just ask.
My 2 week project turned into a month thing. With only 2 days off from work and 2 to 3 hours other days It took me a month since I wanted to be perfect and it did. Everything was wired correctly and I didn't have to open up the harness that was tucked away in the wire loom.

PS the tap for the air temp sensor is a bitch if you can't find the right size which no one carrries unless you order it. Remember to get the connector kit with it.

so far I have done the coolant sensor with no problem, and air temp sensor with less of a problem.... I have access to a full car shop so it makes things a little bit easier... me and my father were looking at the TPS today and we don't think we'll have too much trouble with that, we'll see....
