I have 2 worn lower control arm bushings located at my back left tire. Lately I have noticed my alignment and steering seem off somehow. Can worn bushings have this much effect on the car's ride??

I would say definitely, but what do I know? Seems if one of your rears isn't tracking straight, then you'd notice it up front with the steering.

I see, yea it seems worse when I steer to the right. If I accelerate out of a turn pretty hard I can really feel the car shift around.

yes, on any car.

Fixing it should also boost the feeling/handling of your car
