What Are Diff And Tranny Brace Drawbacks

I thought someone here was selling some viton grommets that were suppose to help with the vibrations?
Other than that, I'm guessing that especially in high HP applications, there's more internal stress on your drive-line since there's no flexing....and the cost and weight of the braces themselves.

yeah... the viton washers do reduce the vibrations, but i was just curious, cuz i dont know if it damaged any internal parts of of the tranny or the diff.... or maybe the PPF was optimal as far as handling goes.

The reason why the transmission and differential allows movement (as per mazda design) is to ensure that the gears in the tranny and in the differential are prevented from seeing any shock loading.
The reason why trannies blow up or people blow up their differentials is mainly due to shock loading of the individual teeth of a gear. To allow the transmission to move and the diff to move, the casing and bushings takes the shock loading rather than the gear sets

In other words...(IMHO) having both braces might be asking for trouble, especially if you also running solid motor mounts with wide rubber.

I dont think BAD is the right word to use. But if something does **** up then it will break, because the gears will take the beating and not the bushings. However bracing them reduces the chance of things happening (mis shifts, etc.)
