Does the FD have front and rear tie rods? Or is there something in the rear that resembles a tie rod?

Might be thinking of the toe-links. As the name suggests, they fix the toe setting for the rear wheels. They do have bushings at both ends that allow vertical movement in the suspension and could conceivable be confused with a tie-rod...maybe.

Tie rods are ball-pivot and integral with steering linkage.....hence, only on the front.

I think you are right on this. The shop was telling me the inner and outer ends were worn on both sides, do you think they were referring to the bushings>?

Probably. In my experience, it's usually the outer bushing (the smaller one...lower one in this picture) that wears out first. The larger one is encased in rubber. Ask them to show you why the larger one is worn out.
