a friend of mine spent $100 for a billion thermostat, and it opens way early, so if you're just puttering around it will run at like 65-70c but as soon as you get on it it goes right back up to 95-100c

Ambient temp: 95F
Humidity: 60%
Anyone have any ideas how else i can get the heat to drop? Will putting the heat shield over the hotside of the turbo drop temps? Just seems whenever i get on it, the temps start to jump.. and i'm not lean.
Is a hood my only way out? If i turn on the heater i can get INSTANT temp dropage... just seems like the heat needs somewhere to go.

without saying the obvious. first make your cooling system is clean, got a good mix of antifreeze(see other threads), and your raditors fins are straight and not dinged up, and hopefully have an aftermaket one. Second pull your water pump and possible replace, they become inefficient, before they actually fail.
Reason i say this is that you heater is essentially another radiator for you system and if you get a large dramatic drop from using your heater it could indicate primary radiator is not as effecienct as it should be, or you have a circulation problems.
Yes, in almost all cars turning on the heater will cool the car, but as i said if it is dramatic, you may want to look elsewhere in the cooling system.
