steam from under hood? please help
#1
I have a 93' rx7 touring model for the record. After I drive it, I can smell coolant fluid like its burning or getting hot and I can see steam coming out from the lines on both sides of my hood. I have heard this could mean that my water pump is going bad? I honestly don't know. I am going to put it on the lift tomorrow so will someone give me some hints on what to look for specifically and what the problem could be. I am worried about overheating my car or causing damage. My temp gauge is normal but there is the coolant smell and the steam. Thank you so much for the help.

&#@*&% IT!!!!
Car's been parked about two weeks, but just went to move it prior to winter storage and...you guessed it. Steam rolling up from the area of the turbos. Couldn't fix an exact location from above, and it cleared pretty quickly. I've never had to mess with the turbos or coolant lines. Assuming you guys are right, I guess by spring, I won't be able to say that.

It was steaming from a cold start?
Yeah. OK, give it to me staight. I figured it was coolant that had leaked out of the Turbo coolant lines and soaked into my wrapped DP while it was parked. But your question suggests it might be worse than I thought?

prolly not, that stuff gets hot fast

It depends. It does get hot super fast, it wouldnt take long to turn any condensation into steam. I would just start using the process of elimination and going through all the little ****. Hopefully its nothing big.

also, when you replace those lines... go ahead and buy them from Mazda... don't use the cheap autozone/advance auto type ****. They are preformed and have a pretty tight bend radius. The cheap **** tends to kink easily.
