Some Pre-dyno Bnr Assessments
#1
Just received this email from my Dad. This is his take on the recent Tri State dyno day with Steve tuning. All the tuning with my R1 happened on the drive back from PA to NJ. This was with new 10.5s Leading and 11s Trailing, and at 1.10-1.14 boost (~16psi).
Check it out:

Me, Kan, Ryan and his friend Bryan drove to So. Jersey and then onto the dyno facility in bum-**** Pennsylvania for Thursdays tuning session... Steve was only able to tune 4 cars because of some problems.
We left the house in Morristown @ 0930. Jayspec7 met us in Morristown @ 1000; he drove down from Rockland Co. New York... Nice Guy.
We then caravaned down to exit 4 off the Jersey Turnpike... Met up with "Keith's" folks.... and didn't get to the dyno facility till 1500, hitting traffic jams along the way... It was hot with reported air temps (according to the PFC commander) of 70C....
The good news is that while your car wasn't put on the dyno.... we spent the entire drive home making pull after pull in both 3rd and 4th gear. Steve cleared up ALL the funky engine running issues from idle up through 8000RPM. Result.... Your car is fast as hell..... This thing is a BEAST!! Steve thinks that it's as powerful as any single turbo he's been in and asked me my opinion of it's felt horse power.... Anecdotally, I say you're putting down somewhere in the region of 425 to 450HP... Steve agreed that that was probably not too far off. Now, We'll see.
Saturday is another dyno session... I plan to have fresh oil in the car and be ready for Saturday's pulls.
How I didn't get busted by the cops on the way home is beyond me... And, there was more than one instance of a cop pacing me and watching the whole thing.... At one point, Ryan, who was riding trail in the Subaru, said that he noticed a pace car on his right rear quarter, so he slowed up to the speed limit.... The cop paced him for a while and then sped up to catch up with me.... Ryan was frantically trying to call my cell but of course couldn't get through because I was a just a little preoccupied.... Going 140MPH will do that!... However, maybe because I was doing the pull and immediately slowing down to a normal speed limit, and there where no other cars in the area, the cop left me alone.... So, all totalled, Steve spent the better of 3 solid hours tweaking this and that to get you car solidly performing throughout the entire RPM range...
Well gotta go, will write more later.... And yes.... I think you car is now faster than my old L-88 Corvette... !!!
Love,
DAD
PS: You owe me big time junior!!

better hope you had some wideband tuning done on the road... my friend did his car like that, and turned out that his car was running 13:1 AFR once he got a wideband on it.

That's what they were doing.....my dad was driving, and Steve was in the passenger seat with his datalogit, laptop, and wideband .
