Rebuilt 13b 10 years ago, never been started. Do I need a rebuild again?
Hey guys I have a friend that rebuilt his 13b fd 10 years ago from (pineapple) or some place like that. Project was a full ground up restoration/ paint, v-mount ect.ect. He has not started the motor in ten years! The motor was rebuilt and never started. We are close to getting it ready to fire up. Question is will we be able to fire the motor up and not damage the apex seals? Or do we need to pull the motor and rebuild it again? Will mmo, or atf be an option/ recommendation or are we fine with fluids, hand cranking and dropping some oil down the spark plug wells? Please let me know, i would hate for him to have to rebuild a motor that has already been rebuilt amd just never started in 10 years. Thanks.

IMHO if you do a FULL change of oil+coolant (FULL then radiator + engine oil) and you check spark plug/cable you can fire engine without problem....
If you want you can drop a little oil from the plug hole to build compression and prime the fuel system before starting the car.
Check fuel filter and change oil filter...
And spray WD-40 CRC 6-66 around on cable and opther electric stuff that can have built dispersion problem during years...
After 10 years i definitively change pulley belt that probably are very very "dry"
Don't think you need a rebuilt just for sitting 10 years....
