The other day while doing some "spirited" driving I noticed my car was smoking from underneath the car. When I park and look under the car I can see a couple small drops of oil about under my downpipe. Its not coming from the turbo's I just did non-sequential and I checked them thoroughly. Is it most likely my oil pan gasket? I am going to check into it more tommorow and really pinpoint it but if it is how really much of a pain is it ti replace? Any other really common leaks that are commonly known? Thanks

You have to loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine up to get the oil pan off.

It is a major PIA. If it is a small leak i would try to put JB weld on it.

Also check the turbo oil lines that attach to the rear plate and the oil pipe to make sure that they are tight. They will leak if they are not tight all the way.

I wondered if fd/fc were similar in that aspect. I did this on the fc before the inevitable rebuild, 10mm socket, universal socket, extensions, oil in the eyes. Yes i agree.PIA.

JB weld --You will not work on my car, thanks. If you pull the pan to do it correctly , do not use the stock gasket, they leak. Just clean all parts and the threads in the block, and use Honda bond or toyota bond ,Yamabond to seal the pan. the Mazda bond is good but cost to much. Let the sealer cure per dirrections for three days before putting in oil
