I'm New/boosting Issues
#1
Hi guys, I'm new!
I have had a Gen 3 RX-7 for about 4 months now, and I believe ever since I've had it there has been a problem! I'm hoping that some of you clever chaps might be able to shed some light on the issue! (By the way, I'm from the UK!) I have installed a boost gauge to help identify the problem.
The problem is as follows: To being with, after the car has been started and warmed up a bit, it boost normally 0.7 bar (10psi). But after a short period, the boost will only go up to between 0.5 and 0.6 bar (~7-9psi). This is the same on both turbos. If I turn the ignition off (while the car is in motion) and bump start it again by turning the ignition back on, then the boost will, for a short period, reach normal levels again of 0.7 bar. Then pretty quickly it drops back down to 0.5-0.6 bar.
I'm guessing some sort of solenoid issue (maybe wastegate?), but was hoping that maybe you kindly people will be able to shed some light on the issue.
The mods I've had are free flowing cat back exhaust, and HKS induction kit.
Thanks in advance for the help guys!

well not to bust ur ***** but fuel managment would be a smart thing to do if uve freed up all ur backpressure. check the vacuum hose under ur intake filter by the y-pipe and turbos.

with a full free flowing exhaust and intake you should be over boosting so that's kinda weird. Really you need a ECU, anything after 3 mods should have a ECU, and if you have a full free flowing exhuast and intake that counts as 4. DP, MP, Catback, and intake.

Guys, he said a CATBACK not a full exhaust system. he only has 2 mods done. And that problem has nothing to do a catback and intake. What does fuel have to do with the boost going down???It's boost(air).
Nikp, it sounds like you might have a solenoid sticking (good problem solving bro)
and check if your ecu is grounded properly before u go bye anything. The gen 3 comes with a safty feature where u can't get full boost until the car warms up properly. So just check everything out properly before you start to buy **** that you don't need. Check you vacuum line since you are in you engine bay, use your owners manuel to see what is what, or they are many sites that can help with you vacuum diagram.
Good luck,
