Heater Core Coolant Lines
#1
My heater core broke and is leaking coolant into my passenger side interior. I don't feel like removing my entire interior to fix it... Besides, the heat system sucks and I don't really need it in Florida anyways.
So, what I wanted to do was just connect the two in/out coolant lines together that feed to the heater core. I just wanted to reassure myself that I'm taking the correct action by asking you all if I've got the right idea.
The two small rubber hoses that connect into the firewall just above the rear turbo are the ones I should be concentrating on, correct? I was also curious as to what your recommendation is on the connecting piece I should use to do this. I'm pretty sure I've got the right idea on what to get, but if someone else has done this before and it worked fine, I'd rather go with a tried and true method.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Nah I don't think that was the leak... The leak is most likely a freeze plug gone bad but now I'm not sure because the car isn't leaking anymore... Yea I'm gonna run to home depot before it gets to late and connect these hoses together so I can finally have a dry passenger side.

Get rid of the whole heater system and whatever piping you don't need - you might be surprised at the weight you save.
the entire system weighs around ten lbs... give or take a few
so the surprise is that the weight savings is minimal...
